"Die Gassenhauer" is a clarinet, fortepiano and violoncello trio performing music of the classical and romantic time. The name of the group is derived from the name of famous variations of the E flat major clarinet trio opus11 by Ludwig van Beethoven.

"Die Gassenhauer" trio won the "Best Interpretation Award" and the "Prize of the Public" at the most important in early music field "Musica Antiqua" competition in Brugge in 1999 as well as the Jury prize of the 1999 "Alte Musik Treff" competition of the "Bach Tage Berlin" Festival. Since then "Die Gassenhauer" was invited to perfor in many festivals, e.g. Vendsyssel festival in Denmark, Zeeuwsch Vlaanderen festival in Holland, Festival des Midis Minimes in Brussel, Belgium, "Tage Alter Musik" Osnabruck; concert halls such as De Doelen Rotterdam, etc. For the 2000/2001 season the trio is invited for a concert tour as a part of the "Organisatie Oude Muziek" network (producerof the important "Utrecht Early Music Festival").

The repertoire of the group includes such well known works as the trios by Beethoven, works by Beethoven's student Ferdinand Ries as well as pieces by Carl Philip Emanuel Bach, who was one of the first composers writing for this combination of instruments. The result of historical research brought to live such beautiful, but rarely performed pieces as the "Grand Trio" von Adalbert Gyrowetz and works by Mozart's student Anton Eberl.
